A small family 4* hotel in the Cork area / Ireland / announces vacancy for Head Waiter

The role carries a gross starting salary of €23-25.000 per annum, paid every 2 weeks. Staff gratuities are pooled and divided amongst themselves.
Hours per week & Worker Notice Period required
Average hours per week (vary depending on time of year) from 45 to 55, averaging out at 45/48.
5 days worked per 7 day rotation. Normally Mondays & Tuesdays are days off.
Shifts mainly straight & some splits – depending on bookings coming in.
Hours of Business: Breakfast service starts at 8am and finishes approx. midday/ 1am or whenever… depending on type of business that is in-house. Breakfast staff normally start at 7.15am. Chefs generally start at 12 noon and finish around 10.30/11pm, depending on volume of business.
Hotel/Restaurant Opening periods: 5 days per week, Wednesdays through Sundays, April to October inclusive and open 3 to 4 days per week, Thurs/Friday to Sundays, November to March inclusive.
Hotel/Restaurant Holiday & Closing periods: Four days over Christmas 2019, 1 week in November, 2 weeks in early January 2020.

Meals are provided while on duty. Accommodation can be provided at hotel initially for a few weeks while looking for a place to live/rent.

They cater to approx. 20 small weddings parties per year and plan on increasing these numbers. Wedding average numbers attending are 80/130 guests. Otherwise they generally have busy weekend trade with overnight guests, serving afternoon teas, dinner, private dining guests, Sunday lunch, Lounge menu…
They cater to corporate meetings/ functions & offer some on-site activities. There are several annual events they host there with seasonal themes- autumn mushroom hunts, Christmas bazaars, harvest lunches, game dinners, distillery tours and talks, etc.. Their customers range in nationalities & levels of sophistication. Main market is the Irish overnight visitors, followed by USA & UK, etc.

Country house properties run differently to hotel properties. All departments help each other, they don’t have demarcation lines and there is a nice working environment. This fortunately spills over into the Guests having a more positive experience.

Qualifications / Certificates Required for position
Need employees with fluent English & whose accents are clearly understood.
Applicants must have/aquire their own transport. Staff Accommodation is not provided and ideally applicants need to be within a maximum of 30 minutes’ drive from their home to work. Mallow town is 6km away with adequate choice of rental accommodation. Initially new staff can be accommodated for two weeks at hotel while arranging accommodation.
